Description:
Spearmint oil is obtained from flowering tops of spearmint plant; it is inhabitant to much of Europe and Asia, and naturalized in parts of northern and western Africa, North America, and South America, as well as different oceanic islands. Spearmint oil showed probable for antifungal movement against food poisoning pathogensand had no proof of mutagenicity in the Ames test. It grows well in temperate weather. It is a very ordinary household plant, grows easly in pots or it is planted by its spreading rhizome. They can be preserved in salt sugar syrup, alcohol or oils.
Extraction:
Spearmint Oil is extracted from the Flowering tops of spearmint plant by the method of Steam Distillation.
Properties:
Spearmint oil is Colorless to Pale Yellow in color and minty odor.
Blending:
Spearmint oil mostly blends with most of essential oil like Basil, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Rosemary and Jasmine oil.
Uses:
• Spearmint oil has very good healing properties; it acts as a great remedy in digestive complaints like Vomiting, Diarrhea, Constipation, Flatulence, Irritable bowel syndrome.
• Its wonderful fragrance can stimulate the brain and increase the alertness and it helps in inflammation.
• Spearmint oil is used as a flavoring agent in confectionery due to the presence of Menthol.
• In food and beverages spearmint oil used as a flavoring agent, it used an ingredient in several mixed drinks like Mojito and mint Julep, Sweet tea and iced etc.
• Spearmint oil is used in toothpaste, mouthwash and packed food items.
• Due to the presence of Menthol spearmint oil is an effective insecticide and keeps away mosquitoes, ants, moth & fly and it is used in mosquito repellent cream.
